I am Tom Hier.
THOMAS HIER founded Biddison Hier Ltd., along with co-founder GAIL BIDDISON, to work with educational institutions and other non-profit organizations to provide high-quality analysis and advice to decision makers facing complex planning and management decisions. Prior to founding Biddison Hier, Ltd., Tom and Gail were senior officers of the real estate subsidiary of the Washington, DC-based law firm of Arnold & Porter. Through Biddison Hier, Tom has provided comprehensive pre-development planning, financial analysis and financial planning services to numerous institutions of higher education. His skills and experience yield significant, tangible results to colleges and universities seeking to derive maximum benefit from institutional resources.
In addition to project work for clients, Tom contributes to the advancement of the field through writing and lecturing. He is a contributor to a number of educational publications, including Trusteeship Magazine, the publication of the Association of Governing Boards, and NET RESULTS: The On-Line Magazine for Strategy and Leadership. He has been featured presenters at annual meetings of national organizations including the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), the Association for College and University Housing Officers - International (ACUHO-I), the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS).
Tom is a graduate of Brown University and The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
I am Jen Brown.
Jen Brown, Associate at Biddison Hier Ltd., is a planner who works with institutions of higher education on a wide variety of resource management issues. She is focused not only on helping universities use the resources they have most efficiently, but also on realizing the mission of, and cultivating community within, colleges and universities through strategic and innovative allocation of existing resources.
Jen conducts peer and local market research, engages stakeholders in interviews and focus groups, undertakes extensive data analyses, and constructs financial models, all for the purposes of constructing comprehensive instructional / residential space master plans and other client-focused deliverables. Jen has provided support for Biddison Hier’s projects at Catholic University of America, Tufts University, Emory University, Middlebury College, and Yale University, among others.
Jen is a Fulbright Scholar and a graduate of both Grinnell College and The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
